What You’ll Do:
The Sr. Director/VP, Genomics will support the EVP, Genomics and will share development and execution of strategic focus areas for the business - where to play and how to win - for growing the Genomics business to a specific revenue target over a multi-year period.
During the first 60 days of employment, the EVP and this person will create and prioritize a list of initiatives to grow the business.
Not exhaustive, but critical initiatives include:
- Oncology:
- Portfolio strategy: determine what oncology tests we can and should add to our product portfolio (organic and inorganic)
- Portfolio go-to-market (external collaborations): map the market, build relationships, choose partners, manage deal execution, manage the relationship while coordinating with cross-functional teams to realize the opportunity
- Performance and Insight generation: highlight the actions and recommendations across the business to exceed Plan goals, including sales performance visibility and leading growth indicators for leadership. Direct and own the implementation of improvements to consistently achieve world-class performance of the business.
- Non-Oncology:
- Disease expansion: partner with internal leaders to determine opportunities to support clinical priorities to improve care and accelerate research/discovery. Including portfolio strategy and integration with functional partners (eg. sales, marketing, R&D, Product)
- Accelerate growth: identify blockers and enablers for rapid growth, including product evolution (assay + technology); improve execution with sales and marketing leadership
- Cross Portfolio:
- Collaborate with leaders across the organization to understand evolving Clinical (and coordinating with corresponding Research/Life Science) customer needs to ensure Portfolio approach is aligned with current and future trends in the market
- Liaise with clinicians from a training/awareness standpoint, increasing awareness of Tempus across the customer base
- Ensure Clinical + Research market narrative reflects a broad portfolio of offerings, including a data-first Genomics foundation, as well as emerging Radiology and Trial matching/CRO capabilities
Once the list of initiatives is created and prioritized, the EVP and this individual will choose initiatives to own end-to-end. Given the current state of non-oncology disease areas, this aspect of the role would include a broader GTM strategy development, direct support of the sales team (ensuring they have what they need to drive sales), and problem solving issues as they come up (diving into resolutions for any inhibitors to growth).
Additionally, this individual will support the EVP by taking over the management of several high value, strategic customers that require senior leadership. In this position, the Sr. Director/VP will help chart the course of the partnership and ensure that necessary teams at Tempus are involved as needed.
The EVP will continue to own how the pieces of the business come together. This individual will support the creation and execution plan to achieve the long term strategy, working closely with the EVP, and articulate that vision internally and externally to align the organization to that plan. Together, they will continue to evaluate and refine the list of initiatives based on experimentation and customer feedback.
The Sr. Directory/VP, Genomic’s key direct reports will be the Director of Sales Operations and Sr. Director, Portfolio Strategy.
