What You’ll Do:

The Senior Director of Operations – Clinical Data Abstraction will oversee a large-scale production team responsible for abstracting unstructured clinical data into structured data. You will drive operational efficiency, strategy execution, and cross-functional collaboration. This role is accountable for performance management, process optimization, and leveraging data insights to enhance productivity. The ideal candidate is a strategic leader with expertise in operations management, data-driven decision-making, and stakeholder engagement.

Key Responsibilities:

Leadership & Team Development:

  • Lead a production team of 100+ employees, fostering a performance-driven culture centered on accountability and continuous improvement.

  • Lead change management initiatives to enhance operational readiness, efficiency, and effectiveness.

  • Manage and mentor a high-performing, data-driven operations team.

  • Establish and reinforce KPIs to drive team effectiveness and operational excellence.

  • Develop and coach managers at all levels (Director, Sr. Manager, and Manager) to build leadership capabilities and talent development.

Strategy, Planning, and Process Optimization:

  • Drive monthly, quarterly, and annual planning, including long-term strategic initiatives, vendor negotiations, and resource allocation.

  • Drive the innovation and implementation of new AI-based processes and workflows to increase efficiency and scalability

  • Oversee the development of the team’s growth framework for all levels of the organization and manage end-to-end performance and compensation cycles

  • Develop and implement strategies to enhance the efficiency and scalability of curated data processes.

  • Utilize data-driven insights to guide strategic decision-making and operational improvements.

  • Partner with executive leadership to define, track, and optimize key performance indicators (KPIs) and business metrics.

  • Identify and implement process enhancements to increase productivity and standardize organizational best practices.

  • Understand data infrastructure, including data warehouses and Looker, guiding effective data management and reporting.

Cross-Functional Collaboration:

  • Partner with executive leadership and key stakeholders to align operational strategies with business objectives.

  • Act as a consultant to internal teams, leveraging curated data to support team needs and operational goals.

  • Support compensation planning and incentive programs to drive team performance.

  • Collaborate with product and engineering teams to implement tools and technologies that enhance productivity and data quality.

New York Pay Range

$170,000 - $210,000 USD

Illinois Pay Range

$150,000 - $190,000 USD

The expected salary range above is applicable if the role is performed from Illinois and may vary for other locations (California, Colorado, New York). Actual salary may vary based on qualifications and experience. Tempus offers a full range of benefits, which may include incentive compensation, restricted stock units, medical and other benefits depending on the position.
