Squarespace is looking for a Senior Frontend Engineer to join the Communications Platform team within the Building Blocks Platform Engineering group. The Communications Platform powers customer engagement across Squarespace, offering internal teams a scalable, reliable, and secure infrastructure for sending communications via email, push notifications, and in-product messaging. The team also owns the end-to-end Forms and Form Submissions experience, enabling customers to create, manage, and respond to forms across their websites.

As a Senior Frontend Engineer, you'll play a key role in shaping both the user experience and the underlying platform that supports these critical capabilities. You'll collaborate closely with product managers, designers, and backend engineers to deliver thoughtful and performant user interfaces and frontend platform tooling.

You will report to our Engineering Manager and this is a hybrid role out of our NYC office.

As a Senior Software Engineer, you will:

  • Design and build new product features for our Forms and Notifications platforms
  • Own and evolve shared frontend infrastructure and component libraries used across Communications products
  • Collaborate with designers and product managers to craft intuitive and accessible UIs
  • Lead architectural decisions and mentor other engineers on frontend best practices
  • Keep our stack current by evaluating and integrating modern frontend technologies
  • Write high-quality, maintainable code with strong test coverage and participate in code reviews
  • Help define and uphold frontend engineering standards across the organization

Desired Experience:

  • 6+ years of frontend development experience, with at least 2+ years working on frontend platforms or reusable UI infrastructure
  • Expertise in JavaScript (ES6+) and experience with React (or similar frameworks like Vue or Angular)
  • A strong command of the DOM, HTML5, CSS3, and modern browser APIs
  • Experience building and maintaining design systems or reusable component libraries
  • Familiarity with testing frameworks like Jest, React Testing Library, or Cypress
  • A product mindset — you care about performance, accessibility, usability, and visual polish

Benefits & Perks

  • A choice between medical plans with an option for 100% covered premiums
  • Fertility and adoption benefits
  • Access to supplemental insurance plans for additional coverage
  • Headspace mindfulness app subscription
  • Global Employee Assistance Program
  • Retirement benefits with employer match
  • Flexible paid time off
  • 20 weeks for parental leave and up to 12 weeks to care for an ill family member
  • Pretax commuter benefit
  • Education reimbursement
  • Employee donation match to community organizations
  • 8 Global Employee Resource Groups (ERGs)
  • Dog-friendly workplace
  • Free lunch and snacks
  • Private rooftop
  • Hack week twice per year
