Founded as a non-profit in 2007, the mission of V3 Sports mission is to elevate our community through wellness, fitness and education. In 2024, V3 Sports opened Phase One of the V3 Center, a 40,000 square foot health and wellness center that will grow to be a North Minneapolis community asset and a regional destination. The focus of Phase One is to provide a place for Northside residents of all ages to access water, state-of-the-art fitness equipment, physical rehabilitation and enjoy healthy and delicious food offerings.

Phase Two, which V3 Sports is actively fundraising for, will be a regional destination for sporting events, career fairs, community events, and other drivers of economic stability. At the V3 Center, Northside young people and families will access programming that supports their career and economic aspirations and builds the skills they need to make their dreams reality.

Wages and Benefits

$22 per hour; accrual of Earned Sick and Safe Time (ESST). V3 Sports sponsors a retirement plan with a 4% employer match and immediate vesting.

Schedule

This is a casual position with weekly hours that fluctuate based on candidate’s availability and V3’s swimming program offerings. Hours availability fluctuates between morning, afternoon, evening and weekend hours. Typical length of a shift is 2-4 hours.

The Deck Supervisor at V3 Sports oversees pool deck safety, lesson flow, and instructional quality while creating a supportive, feedback-driven environment for Swim Guides. This role ensures every Swim 2 Learn session runs smoothly—from participant arrival through progress reporting—while engaging families, supporting staff, and maintaining a safe, welcoming aquatic space. Responsibilities include the following:

  • Overseeing pool deck safety and ensuring smooth programming flow during Swim 2 Learn sessions.
  • Entering skills assessments for all participants throughout each program cycle.
  • Executing opening and closing procedures.
  • Enforcing all safety procedures and collaborating with lifeguards to maintain a safe, clean pool deck and locker room environment.
  • Supporting the Aquatic Program Assistant (APA) in facilitating school partner programming.
  • Providing on-deck or in-water coverage of programs during staff shortages.
  • Assisting with follow-ups related to report cards and appropriate swim level placement.
  • Supporting the Aquatic Program Assistant at internal and external events.
  • Assisting with onboarding and training Swim Guide staff.
  • Assisting in leading in-services, meetings, and training courses as directed.
  • Communicating session-related issues to the Aquatic Program Assistant and Aquatics Manager.
  • Observing Swim Guides during lessons and providing timely, constructive feedback.
  • Relaying essential performance-related information to the Aquatic Program Assistant.
  • Maintaining positive parent and guardian relationships by engaging with at least 10 parents or guardians per shift on deck.
  • Supporting families and participants with swim level progression and program questions.
  • Demonstrating strong knowledge of the Swim 2 Learn program and lesson levels.
  • Directing Swim Guides to ensure the facility is fully prepared for lessons.
  • Ensuring all Swim Guides are prepared and ready for their assigned lessons.
  • Managing traffic at pool entrances during peak usage times.

Who You Are

  • You bring a minimum of one year of experience working within a swim lesson program.
  • You are willing and able to complete V3 Sports Swim Guide training within six months of hire, including 18 hours of classroom instruction.
  • Aquatics Certifications are not required to apply, but preferred. Must be willing and able to complete the Red Cross Lifeguarding course within six months of hire.
  • You understand the importance of professionalism and excellent customer service.
  • You bring experience working with diverse populations across a wide range of socioeconomic backgrounds.
  • You demonstrate strong conflict management and communication skills.
  • You maintain positive, professional working relationships with coworkers and the public.
  • You are able to travel to worksites within a 15-mile radius of the office.
  • You are able and willing to maintain current CPR, First Aid, AED, and BBP certifications. (For new hires, training will be provided during onboarding.)
