VAI is seeking an Investment Analyst to support the management of its $2.3 billion endowment. This role is designed for an early-career professional with strong analytical, reporting, and operational skills. The Investment Analyst will support the investment team through performance reporting, cash flow tracking, data reconciliation, and portfolio documentation, while helping ensure the accuracy, consistency, and timeliness of investment information used in decision-making.
Key responsibilities include:
• Prepare recurring and ad hoc portfolio reports, including performance, attribution, benchmark comparisons, exposures, and portfolio composition summaries.
• Support quarterly and monthly cash flow operations by tracking capital calls, distributions, subscriptions, redemptions, and related portfolio activity.
• Maintain and reconcile investment data across reporting systems, custodian records, manager reports, and internal spreadsheets to ensure data integrity.
• Assist with the production and quality control of investment management reports for internal stakeholders, leadership, and committees.
• Monitor portfolio activity and maintain organized records for transactions, cash movements, manager communications, and supporting documentation.
• Coordinate with internal and external partners, including our internal finance and legal teams; external custodians, consultants, auditors, and investment managers, to resolve reporting and operational issues efficiently.
• Help improve reporting workflows, spreadsheet models, and data processes to enhance accuracy, consistency, and operational efficiency.
• Support internal requests for portfolio and benchmark information in a timely, professional, and service-oriented manner.
• Maintain a working knowledge of portfolio holdings, manager activity, and investment operations to support day-to-day team needs.
Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, economics, business, or a related field.
• 2-4 years of relevant experience in investment operations, performance reporting, treasury, finance, accounting, or a related analytical role.
• Strong Excel and spreadsheet skills, with the ability to organize, reconcile, analyze, and present financial data accurately.
• Experience working with investment reporting systems, portfolio accounting platforms, or market data tools is preferred.
• Strong attention to detail and a commitment to data quality, process discipline, and follow-through.
• Clear written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present information in a concise and professional manner.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities, meet deadlines, and work independently in a fast-paced environment.
• Collaborative mindset and strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to build effective working relationships across internal teams and external partners.
