What you will do:
The Business Development Manager will be responsible for driving profitable growth over the next 5+ year horizon by identifying, developing and securing new business opportunities and extending our application/market segment portfolio within the North Central Americas region. This includes all existing products and developmental products. Implementing and executing an ideation process for assessing and developing new opportunities/application targets is critical. Gaining alignment with project teams and leading them via a defined and structured business development process is key. Project management accountability and execution to bring target project opportunities to closure (win/closed) is essential. Identify adjacent acquisition or technology/partnership extension targets and managing an assessment process for these extensions will also be a central component of this role. Coordinating with global WACKER Business Development teams will be needed.
- Identifies / develops / wins new profitable growth via application extensions for Dispersions Business Team.
- Supports new product development and business development best practice process management (project management) with the ability to lead-drive project teams and bring projects to closure (won or closed-stopped).
- Identify adjacent acquisition or technology / partnership extension targets and managing an assessment process for these extensions. Will include scouting, target identification and assessment.
- May negotiate arrangements with possible future business partners (e.g. acquisitions, joint ventures, channel to market).
What we need from you:
- Bachelor's in chemistry, engineering, or business. MBA or advanced technical degree a plus.
- 10+ years relevant experience in customer facing technical or commercial roles with demonstrated Business Development experience.
- Ability to travel 40%.
- High personal accountability with the ability to drive project teams along the business development process with the ability to stop projects at early (any) stages when targets become practically unachievable
- Creates structure and order in a highly ambiguous environment.
- Has expertise with advanced, complex, or trendsetting business development and project management concepts or practices. Projects will require broader or deeper value chain or business model assessment and development.
- Commercial skills and judgement on probability of success for projects with a "hunter" or "start-up" mentality in driving projects and portfolio extensions
