Sr AI Engineer

Location: Cleveland (Onsite – 4 days in office)

Department: Engineering

Reports To: VP Product Engineering

As a Senior AI Engineer, you will work in a local and distributed team building the next generation of CHAMP’s CADE (Compliance Automated Decisioning Engine) product. CADE’s goal is to revolutionize the processing of DMV transactions, exceeding industry standards for transaction processing quality and cycle time through the secure and efficient application of cloud-native AI tools and technologies. This is a highly challenging role working with emergent Agentic platforms and requires a voracious intellectual curiosity, a drive to deliver high-quality scalable solutions, and the ability to learn and apply new knowledge quickly while meeting delivery goals. Senior Engineers are expected and required to participate in enterprise architectural decisions, implementation architectural decisions, business requirement evaluation, team processes, continuous improvement efforts, and the daily work of building the solution with hands-on development.

What You’ll Do

Responsibilities

  • Design complex AI-driven workflows and functions
  • Translate use cases, user stories, and requirements into technical designs
  • Design, implement, and deliver high-quality technical solutions that are scalable, observable, extensible, and maintainable
  • Design and implement effective error handling mechanisms
  • Implement new features while continuously improving code quality
  • Integrate and consume internal and external services via MCP, REST, and SOAP
  • Create and maintain system documentation
  • Contribute to code reviews
  • Coach developers on best practices
  • Maintain code standards/style
  • Lead a team of engineers on feature projects

Required Qualifications

  • 5+ years designing, testing, and implementing complex technical solutions
  • Hands-on and practical experience with AI tools and technologies
  • Deep understanding of production application operational requirements
  • Experience mentoring/coaching other software engineers
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills to work effectively within cross-functional teams, including Enterprise Architecture, Product Management, QA, and more

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with delivery and operation of AI solutions in production
  • Experience in government technology, regulated industries, or enterprise SaaS

Salary Range

The expected salary range for this position is $120,000 - $160,000 annually. This is a good faith estimate, and final compensation may vary based on experience, skills, and geographic location.
