Public Health Program Director

Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced Public Health Program Director to lead and oversee community health initiatives focused on improving maternal, infant, and rural health outcomes. This role will provide strategic direction, manage grant-funded programs, oversee contracts and vendor relationships, and collaborate with community organizations, healthcare providers, and internal stakeholders to ensure successful program implementation and long-term sustainability.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide leadership and oversight for public health programs aimed at improving maternal, infant, and family health outcomes in underserved and rural communities.
  • Manage grant-funded projects, ensuring compliance with program requirements, timelines, budgets, and performance expectations.
  • Oversee contracts, review scopes of work, monitor expenditures, and ensure deliverables are completed in accordance with funding and regulatory requirements.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for community partners, grantees, vendors, and stakeholders, providing guidance, technical assistance, and ongoing support.
  • Monitor program performance through data analysis, reporting, and evaluation activities to measure outcomes and identify opportunities for improvement.
  • Collaborate with technical teams and software vendors during the procurement, implementation, and optimization of technology solutions, including care coordination and case management platforms.
  • Support program sustainability efforts by identifying funding opportunities and developing long-term strategic plans.
  • Conduct site visits, facilitate stakeholder meetings, and represent the organization in regional and statewide engagements.
  • Partner with internal departments and external organizations to align initiatives and advance public health priorities.
  • Prepare and present program reports, recommendations, and updates to leadership and funding agencies.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Public Health, Health Administration, Social Services, Healthcare Management, or a related field.
  • Minimum of five (5) years of progressively responsible experience in public health, healthcare programs, community health initiatives, or related fields.
  • Experience managing grants, contracts, budgets, and program reporting.
  • Demonstrated success leading cross-functional projects and multi-stakeholder initiatives.
  • Strong understanding of program evaluation, performance measurement, and data-driven decision-making.
  • Excellent project management, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to engage diverse stakeholders.
  • Experience providing training, technical assistance, or program support to partners and community organizations.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and project management tools.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in Public Health (MPH), Healthcare Administration, Public Administration, or a related field.
  • Experience working with maternal, infant, child health, or rural health programs.
  • Knowledge of healthcare systems, community-based services, and public health program development.
  • Experience supporting technology implementations, case management systems, or care coordination platforms.

Work Environment

  • Remote or hybrid work environment with occasional in-person meetings and stakeholder engagements.
  • Periodic travel required for site visits, partner meetings, training sessions, and program oversight activities.
  • Standard business hours, Monday through Friday.
