- Must be able to work independently as well as collaboratively with team members as needed
- Must be a detail-oriented individual who is highly organized and willing to work in a fast paced and constantly evolving environment
- A minimum of 8-10 years of payroll experience
Preferred: - Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or relevant field
- Experience in a manufacturing and multi-shift environment preferred
- Experience in SAP and Paycor
Skills & Competencies: - Working knowledge of payroll systems (e.g., Paycor, Paylocity, ADP, Success Factors)
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software, particularly Excel (formulas, functions, data sets, etc)
- Proficient with or the ability to quickly learn payroll software
- Proven experience as a payroll lead or similar role
- Ability to handle a fast-paced, multi-tasking environment, and prioritize effectively
- Ability to independently adapt behaviors and strategies to deal with emergent, non-routine and dynamic components of the job
- An analytical mind with good math skills
Physical Requirements: - Must be able to remain in a stationary position for extended periods of time
- Ability to constantly operate a computer and other office equipment, such as printer, telephone, etc.
- Position requires being physically present on the premises during regular company hours or as approved by management
RESPONSIBILITIES: - Enters, maintains, and/or processes information in the payroll system; information may include employees’ rates, bonuses or other compensation, time worked, paid leave and holidays, deductions and withholding, address changes, and other information
- Ensures proper processing of payroll deductions for taxes, benefits, garnishments, and other deductions
- Issues, or reissues, physical or replacement checks or direct deposits due to payroll errors or final discharge
- Oversee federal and state payroll tax compliance including form filing, deposits and setup
- Process annual payroll compliance and other documents (e.g., W-2 and tax forms)
- Check payroll information for accuracy and ensure all relevant paperwork is in order
- Coordinate with HR about changes in payroll (e.g., terminations, new hires)
- Process other financial compensations or deductions (e.g., bonuses, severance pay, taxes, worker’s compensation)
- Reconciles payroll to the general ledger and monthly bank statements including working with Treasury/Finance to ensure accurate and proper banking transactions
- Support benefit programs with deduction calculations, deduction setup, invoice payment and journal entry posting
- Manage the 401k plan including day to day administration, annual reporting and compliance, annual audit process, any governmental inquiries, and updates for to the plan.
- Support headcount budget/forecasting and tracking against actual results
- Produce reports to upper management upon request
- Answer employee questions about salaries and payments
- Work with authorities (e.g., IRS) on audits or requests
- Other Accounting team tasks as required
