POSITION OVERVIEW

Tooling Engineer I is responsible for assisting in the management of the tooling required to manufacture Gentex components at the supply base using the following types of tooling: plastic injection molds, die cast tools or stamping tools.

Location: This position requires on-site work at Gentex facilities. This role is not eligible for remote work.

WHAT YOU’LL DO

  • Assist with part Design for Manufacturing (DFM) analysis, mold filling simulation analysis, and internal tooling design reviews to specify the tooling requirements.
  • Assist with maintaining tool tracking data (APQP) for communication of existing and upcoming new tool builds or tool changes.
  • Assist with tool quotes and communicate those to the commodity and program teams. Assist with submission and execution of Purchase Orders.
  • Participate in commodity team and program team meetings to communicate tooling updates and ensure timing requirements are met.
  • Taking the initiative to learn from your tooling peers, commodity teams and the supply chain.
  • Assist with resolution to any ongoing production tooling issues at the supply base to avoid production interruptions at Gentex.
  • Collaborate with internal teams regarding VA/VE projects that may affect tooling.
  • Other duties as assigned.

WHAT TO BRING

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing, or a related field.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.

WHAT WILL HELP

  • 1-3 years of professional experience related to the tool design, development and launch of injection mold tools, die cast tools or stamping tools and knowledge of 3D computer aided design (CAD) software.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment and provide problem solving solutions in the assigned area.
