What’s so interesting about this role?
Commercial agreements are what makes Grindr (NYSE: GRND) work and what enables our continued growth as the Global Gayborhood on Your Phone. We enter into or renew hundreds of contracts each year touching every part of our expanding business.
We're looking for an outstanding lawyer to lead this critical area of our legal portfolio and serve as a trusted partner and advisor to our internal clients, including executives. In addition to owning the day-to-day strategizing, negotiating, and drafting of agreements to advance our business, you will also build and enhance our contract review processes, in part by incorporating AI and other legal tech tools. You may also have opportunities to expand your portfolio over time to include one or more other areas of our legal work, beyond commercial agreements. You will be joining a lean, fast paced team where every member is valued and drives our mission forward.
What’s the job?
Draft, review, and negotiate a broad range of commercial contracts, including vendor contracts, SaaS agreements, licensing agreements, marketing deals, MSAs, NDAs, data protection, and service-level agreements.
Collaborate with business teams and senior leadership to structure agreements, assess risk, and execute on contracts
Develop, optimize and implement contract templates, playbooks, standard clauses, approval workflows and AI/legal tech to improve operations efficiency and scalability
Report to our VP of Legal, and manage outside counsel as needed
What we'll love about you
JD degree from an accredited law school; admission to practice in at least one U.S. jurisdiction.
Minimum 7-10 years of experience practicing law, with at least four years focused on commercial contracts and at least two years of in-house experience at a consumer technology company
Strong understanding of commercial contracts, intellectual property law, data privacy privacy, and data protection regulations
Excellent judgment, communication skills, and ability to provide clear, pragmatic guidance in fast-moving situations
Practical and client-centric orientation and negotiation style
Comfortable contributing hand-on to daily execution and managing multiple priorities in a lean, high-performing environment
Ability to build strong relationships with internal cross-functional partners
