About The Team

Grindr is an AI-native platform powering how millions of gay people connect globally. With 15M+ monthly users, 130B+ annual messages, and a team of fewer than 200, we move fast, stay lean, and tackle technical problems at a scale few companies ever see.

We’re looking for a People Partner with a strong HR generalist foundation to support our growing teams and managers. This role will lead core People programs — from employee relations to performance management and manager enablement — ensuring we have consistent, fair, and human-centered practices across the organization. You’ll act as a trusted advisor to managers and employees, helping them navigate complex people matters, strengthen team effectiveness, and build great workplaces across Grindr. The ideal candidate thrives in both coaching and execution, balancing hands-on partnership with thoughtful program design.

At Grindr, we operate in Grindr Mode. Moderately hardcore day to day, truly hardcore when it counts. It’s about doing great work without burning out. Outcomes over outputs. Smart, driven people who raise your bar, with room to live full lives.

This is a hybrid role based in our San Francisco or Los Angeles offices and will require you to be in the office on Tuesdays and Thursdays.

About The Job

  • Employee Relations & Performance:
    • Serve as the primary point of contact for employee relations — proactive and reactive — ensuring consistent, fair, and timely resolution of issues.
    • Support performance management cycles, including calibration, review quality, and manager feedback coaching.
    • Partner with leaders to identify performance trends and drive early interventions that promote growth and accountability.
  • Manager Enablement & Development:
    • Design, deliver, and coordinate manager enablement and training programs focused on people leadership, feedback, and development.
    • Partner with managers to strengthen leadership capability, navigate tough conversations, and support team engagement.
  • Career Development & Growth Infrastructure:
    • Champion adoption of career ladders by coaching managers and employees on goal setting, performance alignment, and development conversations.
    • Connect performance frameworks to ongoing growth and mobility discussions.
  • Policy & Program Design:
    • Lead policy design, updates, and change management in collaboration with Legal, People Ops, and subject matter experts.
    • Project manage rollout plans to ensure clarity, adoption, and alignment across teams.
  • Organizational Health & Engagement:
    • Partner with leaders on team effectiveness initiatives, engagement survey follow-ups, and culture-building efforts.
    • Identify and advise on trends across the org to help improve inclusion, belonging, and employee experience.
Role Requirements

  • 6+ years of progressive HR experience, with deep grounding in generalist or HRBP work.
  • Demonstrated expertise in employee relations, performance management, and manager coaching.
  • Skilled communicator and relationship-builder — you earn trust quickly and influence thoughtfully.
  • Experience designing or rolling out people programs and policies in partnership with cross-functional stakeholders.
  • Strong judgment, empathy, and discretion when handling sensitive issues.
  • A bias toward action, with comfort navigating ambiguity and scaling fast-moving environments.
  • Passion for creating inclusive, equitable people practices that reflect Grindr’s mission and community

You May Thrive In This Role If You

  • Experience working in organizations with established scale and cultural complexity, where you’ve navigated nuanced stakeholder dynamics and diverse working styles.
