At AccumTech, core values aren’t just words, they guide how the organization works, supports one another, and serves customers. This year, to celebrate team members who embody these values, AccumTech launched its first-ever Core Value Champion Awards. 

In this series, we’ve already explored the importance of Esprit de Corps and Agility. Now, we’re highlighting another key value: Run Through Walls to Deliver Customer Value. This award goes to Will Milz, a software developer who exemplifies what it means to go above and beyond for customers. 

While Will isn’t in a traditional customer-facing role, his behind-the-scenes impact is undeniable. His work may not always be flashy, but it consistently drives value — helping clients succeed in ways they often don’t directly see. Will stood out among other nominees, including those in more visible customer service positions, by demonstrating thoughtful problem-solving, quality work, and dedication to customer outcomes.

Will shares how this core value shapes his approach, why it’s critical to AccumTech’s mission, and how he balances dedication with sustainability.

What Does "Run Through Walls to Deliver Customer Value" Mean?

For Will, it’s about doing whatever it takes to provide the best possible service. “It means turning customer problems into opportunities for growth,” he says. “Sometimes, that requires difficult conversations or extra hours, but at the end of the day, we focus on maintaining strong relationships and delivering value to our customers.”

At AccumTech, running through walls means tackling challenges strategically and proactively to drive the best outcomes. A key element that differentiates AccumTech is its direct honesty with customers about progress and needs. Sometimes those conversations can be difficult, but Will knows how important it is to raise issues early so the team can collaborate on a path forward.


Going Above and Beyond for Customers

And while going the extra mile is important, so is knowing when to set limits. Will has learned to assess when extra effort will truly make a difference. “If a small sacrifice results in a big impact, it’s worth it. But if a task requires too much time or complexity for minimal return, it’s important to have open conversations with the customer about expectations.” That mindset of knowing when to push harder and when to recalibrate is part of what made Will stand out. 

Brad Wehrmeyer, Strategic Business Manager at AccumTech, spoke to Will’s impact when the award was announced: “Will doesn't just work hard — he works smart. He’s thoughtful about where to put his energy to drive the greatest value for our customers. He’s not always the loudest person in the room, but the impact of his work speaks volumes,” Brad said.

One example of Will’s above-and-beyond work is when he spotted hidden risks in a client’s project requirements that could have caused major issues later down the road. Instead of simply following the request, he worked with his team to redesign the solution, ensuring the project’s long-term success — and saving the client significant time and cost.

Building Trust Through Expertise

Many clients come to AccumTech without knowing exactly what they need, and that’s where the team shines. “Customers trust us to craft the best solution for their problem,” Will says. “We challenge ourselves to meet high expectations while maintaining a healthy balance.”

This consultative, problem-solving mindset is at the heart of how AccumTech delivers value. The team operates in a high-stakes industry — handling critical healthcare data. With so much on the line, trust isn’t optional; it’s essential. “Without trust, we wouldn’t be able to do what we do. Providing white-glove service while keeping customer data safe is our top priority.”
