At GreenLancer, empowering people is more than a value; it’s how we get things done. The solar industry is fast-moving and full of ups and downs—a true solar-coaster where shifting energy policies, abandoned projects, and evolving technologies can make progress feel unpredictable. In the face of that, our strength lies in our people: those who meet roadblocks with solutions, bring clarity to complexity and show up each day with a steady hand.
It’s through this calm, customer-focused, and solution-oriented presence that we support our customers and the clean energy industry as a whole. At the heart of that effort are our team members, driving how we serve, solve, and lead.
Among these leaders are the women of GreenLancer: technical experts, problem solvers, and innovators who help shape our work and our culture. Whether managing critical interconnection services (the process of connecting solar systems to the power grid), engineering smarter platforms, or guiding contractors through complex permitting requirements, these women are holding their own in a traditionally male-dominated field and defining what leadership looks like.
We spoke to a few of them about their work, their journeys, and what it means to build something that matters. What emerged were stories not just of personal growth, but of how real leadership looks in action through trust, empathy, and impact.
Empowerment Through Ownership and Trust
From day one, women at GreenLancer are given more than a seat at the table. They are trusted to lead, shape, and build core parts of our business. For example, when GreenLancer made the strategic decision to bring solar interconnection services in-house, Chelsea Hall, Interconnections Coordinator, was given the opportunity to build that function from the ground up. She was tasked with creating internal systems, processes, and a knowledge base that could scale nationwide. “I am trusted to create these services from scratch,” Hall said. “That trust gave me the confidence to build something that truly works.”
For Software Engineer Emma Farrar, it’s the opportunity to take initiative and learn through real challenges that sets GreenLancer apart. As new bugs and technical issues arse in the development of our new application, she’s encouraged to dive in, try her best, and explore solutions. “There’s trust here,” she said. “If something doesn’t work the first time, we talk it through, adjust, and move forward as a team.”
We believe this kind of ownership is essential. When people are trusted to lead, they deliver work that’s stronger, smarter, and more sustainable.
Leading with Empathy and Grit
While clean energy may be technical, the work we do at GreenLancer is ultimately about people. Across the country, clean energy processes are often harder to navigate than they should be. This leaves homeowners feeling confused and even sometimes abandoned by their original solar installer. And often, these installers are also overwhelmed by complex permitting, interconnection, and compliance demands. That’s why qualities like empathy, patience, and determination are pivotal for our customers.
Across roles and departments, the women of GreenLancer bring a thoughtful, human-centered approach to the work. Hall described the importance of advocating for people who are often left without answers. “A lot of these homeowners just need someone to figure it out,” she said. “It takes persistence, creative problem-solving, and sometimes being the one who’s willing to care enough to dig in and find the right path.”
Dayna Elenis, Sales Admin Leader, carries that same mindset into every customer interaction. “I treat my customers like coworkers,” she shared. “I remember things about them, like if they’re into surfing or have three kids because that connection matters. It makes it real.”
Whether navigating red tape or solving edge cases, these team members show up every day with empathy and grit. It’s this approach that turns complex processes into meaningful services and projects into lasting partnerships.
Building Something That Matters
Women are shaping GreenLancer’s future, not only through leadership but also by creating entirely new tools and systems that will help the company scale. Farrar led the development of the Kanban board view for our soon-to-be-launched business process management software, a centralized system that helps teams track projects, coordinate handoffs, and manage daily operations with greater visibility and accountability. The tool is designed to reduce delays, eliminate communication gaps between departments, and support a seamless experience for both internal teams and customers. The Kanban board specifically allows teams to visualize workflows, prioritize tasks, and stay aligned across high-volume project queues.
Hall is playing a key role in building a first-of-its-kind national database that catalogs utility and solar permit requirements across state and county jurisdictions. The goal is to eliminate the guesswork and slowdowns that come with navigating inconsistent or unclear rules across markets.
Beyond the technical benefits, both tools are being designed to reduce frustration and roadblocks for internal teams, partners, and customers. They represent a shift toward greater transparency, speed, and service in an industry where those things can be hard to find. These women are improving how we work, and making clean energy easier to trust — and deliver.
Women Supporting Women
A key theme in every conversation was the presence of women lifting others up. Whether leaning on fellow women leaders at GreenLancer like Elizabeth Milenkovic (Production Supervisor), Tatiana McSweeney (Customer Success Coordinator), or Karlyn Reuther (People Administrator), or inspiring each other across teams, GreenLancer’s women are cultivating a culture of support.
“Chelsea is changing the game in interconnections,” Elenis said. “And Elizabeth is my go-to for anything platform-related. She’s incredibly knowledgeable and always willing to help.”
Farrar, reflecting on her experience in male-dominated engineering environments, summed it up best: “At GreenLancer, I feel heard. That kind of respect and trust makes all the difference.”
Looking Ahead
By building smarter systems, advocating for customers, and leading with insight and care, the women of GreenLancer are pushing the industry toward something better: faster, more reliable, and more human.
Their stories remind us that leadership doesn’t always look the same. Sometimes it’s taking initiative before being asked or quietly solving problems that others might overlook. And often, it’s about the small actions day-to-day, like sharing knowledge, offering support, and paving the way for others to succeed, that create a foundation that can be built on.
At GreenLancer, we’re proud to empower women at every level of the company, and even prouder to follow their lead. If our mission and culture resonate with you, we invite you to explore our platform, connect with us on LinkedIn or apply to join our growing team.
