In healthcare technology, collaboration isn’t just helpful — it’s essential. The industry is complex, fast-paced, and constantly evolving. With multiple systems, regulations, and client needs to consider, no one can tackle everything alone. Success depends on teams working together, sharing knowledge, and solving challenges.
That’s why Teams are Better is one of AccumTech’s Core Values — creating a culture where people communicate openly, listen actively, and support one another to drive better outcomes. Sometimes, after open dialogue and feedback, an employee’s idea can end up looking completely different than how it started. That’s exactly what makes this Core Value so important — our ideas are not our identity, and constructive feedback is shared with the understanding that we’re all rallying around the same mission and working toward the best solution possible.
Jacob Lechlak, the first AccumTech Core Value Champion for Teams are Better, understands that firsthand. In his role as Senior Enrollment Analyst, he not only ensures his team has the resources they need, but also builds processes that strengthen collaboration, improve efficiency, and create lasting impact.
Building a Culture of Collaboration
At its core, Teams are Better means never working in a silo. “To me, in its simplest definition, Teams are Better means to not forget to collaborate with your peers and to be encouraged to engage in open discussions,” Jacob says.
In his role at AccumTech, Jacob makes collaboration an everyday practice. Whether it’s gathering feedback on internal products, supporting teammates through challenges, or refining processes to make workflows more efficient, he is constantly thinking about how to turn conversations into action.
“I like to think of myself as a local fire marshal. I advise on processes and product improvements that help prevent and mitigate issues, but I’m also one of the first to respond when something needs immediate attention,” he says.
By taking a proactive and hands-on approach, Jacob helps ensure his team has the tools and support they need — not just to put out fires, but to prevent them altogether.
A Breakthrough in Support
As AccumTech’s product and team grew, Jacob noticed a gap — his team needed more structured support, something beyond what he alone could provide. Rather than allowing inefficiencies to persist, Jacob led the creation of an internal product support team and process. This system streamlined how his team accessed help, making it easier to track, prioritize, and resolve issues efficiently.
By introducing clear accountability and a structured support system, he removed roadblocks and ensured that no issue slipped through the cracks. The result is a team that operates more efficiently and with greater confidence, knowing they have the right support exactly when they need it.
For Jacob, the key to effective collaboration is active listening, comprehension, and empathy. “In a support role like mine, you have to learn how to listen — really listen. It’s not just about solving a technical problem; it’s about understanding how an issue is affecting the actual people on your team.”
By prioritizing human-centered problem-solving, Jacob ensures that solutions aren’t just technically correct, but work for the people implementing them. This approach strengthens trust, improves teamwork, and contributes to a culture where everyone’s input is valued.
Why Clear Communication Drives Success in Healthcare Tech
In healthcare technology, where teams are solving complex problems across systems and specialties, strong communication is essential. “There are simply too many systems, processes, and moving pieces involved in delivering a successful product to risk the consequences of miscommunication,” says Jacob.
At AccumTech, communication goes hand-in-hand with collaboration. It’s not just about sharing updates — it’s about actively listening, exchanging feedback, and staying open to new ideas.
“We encourage everyone to be passionately dispassionate — to bring strong ideas to the table, but not be overly attached to them,” Jacob explains. “True teamwork is about finding the best solution, not proving your own right. That only works when people feel heard and understood.”
